In the light of reports that a person who has information about the Libyan medical visas scandal is being "threatened and persecuted by the police", the Nationalist Party insisted today that this person is given the necessary protection.
In a statement signed by deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami and shadow minister for justice Jason Azzopardi, the PN said that the details held by this person are crucial for the police to investigate this scandal in which high officials at the Office of the Prime Minister are involved. The facts already published are enough evidence for investigations by the police to lead to serious accusations, the PN said.
The police commissioner and the attorney general should take all necessary steps to give protection to this person and investigate the allegations made, the PN.
Threats and intimidation are fascist acts that are condemnable, the PN said.
