Book loans from public libraries jumped 22.5 per cent over the past year, new figures released by the National Statistics Office have shown. The increase to 777,804 loans reverses last year's substantial decline, with book loans now a shade higher than the 767,548 number achieved in 2013. In Gozo, Nadur's public library continued to be the island's busiest one, exceeding that in Victoria by 25,873 book loans. Periodicals received at the National Library of Malta under legal deposit decreased by 10.3 per cent over the previous year, from 561 to 503.
