Ukranian Air Force confirms participation at Malta Airshow

The Ukranian Air Force has confirmed its participation in the Malta International Airshow for the first time with a flying display of one of its frontline jets, the Sukhoi Su-27 'Flanker'. The Su-27 is a world known fighter plane famous for its maneuverability, especially for two unusual maneuvers – Cobra and Bell. The Sukhoi-27, named Flanker in NATO code, is the Soviet production, single seat, two-engine fighter plane of the fourth generation. It was developed as an answer to USAF F-15 Eagle. An Ilyushin Il-76 transport aircraft will be part of the static display. The aircraft will be the first ever Il-76 to participate and the largest transport aircraft to ever participate in the static display. It will support the flanker's display in Malta. Ilyushin Il-76, named Candid in NATO code, is the Soviet multi-purpose four-engine turbofan strategic airlifter designed by the Ilyushin design bureau. It was designed to deliver heavy machinery to remote, poorly served areas of the USSR. Military versions of the Il-76 have been widely used in Europe, Asia and Africa, including use as an aerial refueling tanker or command center.
