Aggressor who stabbed Libyan man with pen-knife gets suspended sentence, admits guilt

Mohamed Mokhatr Mohaed Jamhur, a Libyan 25-year-old man, today was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, suspended for three years after admitting to injuring another Libyan man.

The incident took place yesterday afternoon at around 4.15pm following an argument between the two.

Mohamed Jamhur also admitted to grievously wounding Nader Abdulaziz Elgerian and to carrying a sharp object.

Informed sources said the pair argued over a woman, after the accused reportedly caught the victim with his girlfriend. It was also said that the accused physically hit him; the sharp object used in the crime has not been found.

Taking into consideration the admission of guilt, the court presided over by Magistrate Charmaine Galea handed the accused a suspended sentence and a fine of €164. In addition to this, a protection order was issued in favour of the victim. Inspectors Robert Vella and Jonathan Ransley prosecuted.
