PN says government should act in the face of recent spate of serious crimes

A spate of criminal acts in the past few weeks has shown how organised crime rings are using sophisticated methods to kill people and the government should act in the face of these developments, the PN said today. The latest case was a car bomb attack that killed businessman John Camilleri in Bugibba on Monday.

"Families want security and peace of mind but are afraid that they might end up becoming innocent victims of organised crime," PN Deputy Leader Beppe Fenech Adami said in a statement.

"In light of these incidents the government should react with force and determination so that the people behind these serious attempts are caught and brought to justice."

Dr Fenech Adami added that the government should declare that all the necessary investigations are taking place and that the necessary resources have been allocated to solve these serious crimes. The government should understand that dealing with these developments was a national priority because the lives of innocent people were being threatened and endangered, he said.
