Chilly end of year, but no rain expected for start of 2017

It will be one of the chilliest nights of the year, the one which will see us ushering in 2017.

The lowest temperature is expected to plummet to 6 degrees Celsius tonight, a clear sign that winter has taken over. The maximum temperature for today, according to the Meteorological Office, will only climb up to 12.

Matters are expected to be slightly better tomorrow, with the highest temperature set to rise to 14 degrees. But the lowest point will still be 6 degrees.

So, wherever you're going, make sure to put on your warmest clothes tonight.

Of consolation – for some – is that no rain is expected tonight and tomorrow. Rain will be back on Tuesday.
