Minister George Vella offers his condolences to Turkish counterpart

The Minister for Foreign Affairs George Vella phoned his Turkish counterpart, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, to express his condolences following the terrorist attack which took place in Istanbul on New Year's Eve.

The attack claimed the lives of 39 people and injured many more.

The Turkish Minister thanked Dr Vella for his support and sympathy. 

The Minister is expected to address a meeting with Turkish ambassadors in Ankara on 8 January.

The Ministry of Foreign affairs also said that no Maltese nationals were injured in the attack.
