Shop owner performs citizen's arrest of would-be burglar

A shop owner yesterday performed a citizen arrest of a would-be burglar who demanded money from a sales assistant in a confectionery in Qormi.

The police said that a man wearing a hoody entered the shop and demanded money from the 18-year-old assistant.

But the shop owner, a 33-year-old of Marsascala, held the would-be burglar, assisted by a police officer and a prison warder who live nearby, and who were called in by some neighours.

The police later arrived to arrest the man.
