Work has started on the installation of a speed camera on the Siggiewi by-pass, the local council said in a statement.
The speed camera is expected to be in operation in a few weeks' time, the council added.
A study carried out by the council confirmed the need for such an installation. The study was conducted by Bjorn Bonello, taking into consideration the number of accidents that take place in the area.
The study established that drivers drive at excessive speed, with accidents causing one fatality and serious injuries to others.
