The government is proud to have turned around the biggest deficit in Malta's history of €362 million in 2012 to a surplus in 2016, Finance Minister Edward Scicluna said today.
For the first time in Malta's history we have a surplus in the consolidated budget, broke a 34-year long cycle of governments falling for the trap of running at a deficit he said when addressing the media after a NSO statement indicated a surplus of €8.9 million in 2016.
