Head of inquiry into political interference allegations ‘close to corrupt Castille clique’ - PN

The choice of Frank Testa to lead the inquiry into allegations of political interference by two politicians in a drug case in Gozo confirms that the Prime Minister is defending these politicians, a PN statement read today.

The allegation, which was revealed by MaltaToday and took place in 2014, claims that the men were able to change their statements after two government officials intervened following a meeting with the men's father in Victoria. The Prime Minister recently ordered an inquiry into the matter

"After taking two days to appoint the inquiry, enough time the danger of evidence tampering to take place, the Prime Minister chose a person who is manifestly, as shown by his tweets attached (a couple of which were reproduced below), close to the corrupt Castille clique. This, aside from the fact that Frank Testa is close to Minister Manuel Mallia, who was the previous minister under whom the police fell. This means that the Prime Minister chose a person close to Manuel Mallia to investigate the operations of Manuel Mallia in the police corps."

"Even in this case, the Prime Minister is putting up a front to defend two government politicians who interfered for the statements of two persons caught trafficking drugs to be changed."

The PN called on government to immediately publish the inquiry's terms of reference, state who else is conducting the inquiry, say whether he has spoken to members of Cabinet regarding the identity of the two politicians involved in the case.
