Urgent call for blood donations as reserve of O positive blood dwindles

The National Blood Transfusion Service is making an urgent call for blood donations after stocks, particulary of O positive blood, fell drastically.

It warned that unless blood was donated, a number of patients waiting for a blood transfusion, including cancer patients, would have to wait longer for the procedure.

The Blood Bank in Gwardamanġa will be open until 6pm today.

It will also be open from 8am to 6pm tomorrow, which is a public holiday.

Those who wish to donate blood have to present their ID card.
