Polish man dies after getting into difficulty while swimming in Comino

A Polish man has died in hospital after getting into difficulty while swimming at the Blue Lagoon in Comino.

Police were informed about the incident at 2 pm this afternoon and went on site. The 45-year-old Polish man was given first aid by lifeguards, however was later certified as dead at the Gozo General hospital.

Members of the ERRC- 'Emergency Response & Rescue Corps' were also on site and attempted to assist.

Magistrate P Coppini was informed and a magisterial inquiry launched.

Investigations are ongoing.
