Carmel Polidano, known as iċ-Ċaqnu, has pleaded not guilty to the charges of negligence, running an unlicensed animal park, and holding exotic animals; in the case regarding the young boy who was injured by a tiger at the Montekristo Zoo in Hal-Farrug.
The incident took place in November 2015, and lead to the boy receiving wounds to his face and in need of surgery.
The tiger was able to strike the boy in spite of being held by Handlers Michael Mercieca and Muhammad Saleen.
The men have also pleaded not guilty to the charges of negligence.
Magistrate Joe Mifsud heard the case, while Police inspectors Kylie Borg and Chantelle Casha prosecuted.
The zoo, which forms part of the Montekristo Estates, has faced a number of enforcement notices, after media reports uncovered that it operated without a license and held a number of animals which are under international protection.
