Michelle Muscat launches 2017 North to Port swim in aid of The Marigold Foundation

Michelle Muscat announced that once again she will be undergoing another swimming challenge in aid of The Marigold Foundation. This third swim will be the longest challenge undergone by Muscat, starting from the Ta' Fra Ben area in St. Paul's Bay, to Marsamxett Harbour. This is going to be her third personal swim, following the Channel swim between Gozo and Malta in 2015, and the South to Port Swim in 2016. Proceeds from the North to Port swim will go to NGOs which support different causes such as Special Olympics, who are preparing for their participation in the Abu Dhabi World Games.

Anna Calleja, National Director of Special Olympics and personal swimming coach to Mrs Muscat, said that Michelle Muscat has been training on a daily basis for the last year, including during the recent national election period, which was a very challenging time. Calleja said that Muscat swam the 10k challenge already twice as part of her training.

Executive Secretary of The Marigold Foundation Jennifer Xuereb announced that the Foundation will be holding its Annual Fundraising White Party on Saturday 22 July, at Fort St Elmo and weather permitting, the challenge swim of around 6 hours duration is planned for the same day. Winter Moods front man and Marigold board member Ivan Grech appealed to the general public to donate funds.

Muscat said the swim, despite its underlying currents and jagged coastline, outlines our beautiful seas, and took the opportunity of appealing to the public to preserve it by keeping it clean.
