MTA and Cleansing Services return to St George’s area for final clean-up

The Cleansing Department along with a representative of the Malta Tourism Authority returned to site of the littered St George's area and finally cleared the whole area, The Malta Independent has been told.

This newspaper had reported that a piece of land close to St George's Bay had been turned into a dumping site.

After the report, Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi had told Parliament that the area had been cleaned up, but photos taken after the minister's speech showed that although bulky items such as a mattress and luggage had been removed, the area was still littled with smaller pieces of rubbish, including iron mesh.

The Cleansing Services yesterday sent another team to remove the remaining rubbish.
