The Nationalist Party electoral commission will be considering a suggestion made by a veteran journalist for candidates contesting for the leadership post to have their backgrounds scrutinised to "ensure the best political standards".
Writing on his Facebook profile, journalist Dione Borg said that outgoing PN secretary general Rosette Thanke informed him that his proposition will be tackled by the commission set up to organise the leadership election.
The support for this suggestion has been widespread, Borg write, adding that it confirms that the PN is giving great importance to political standards.
Both Adrian Delia and Chris Said, who will be contesting the election, agreed with the idea.
