Police investigations lead to the arrest of four Maltese and seven African youngsters

Police investigations have led to a number of drug related arrests in areas known to the police to be a hot spot for such activity.

Last Friday the Anti-Drug Unit arrested four Maltese youngsters aged between 17 and 23 after it raided the troubled area of Hamrun called St Paul's square. The youngsters were found in possession of cannabis resin and marijuana plants, and are expected to be arraigned in court on charges of trafficking and possession in the coming days.

On Saturday night, further police investigations led through the district police and drug-sniffing dogs, seven men from Somalia and Ethiopia aged between 20 and 25 were also arrested. They were found in possession of cannabis resin, marijuana as well as cocaine.

The African men have already been arraigned in court where they were denied bail.
