Man sentenced to 2 years and nine months in prison after admitting to drug charges

A man today was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison after being admitting his guilt in the trafficking dealing, and being in possession of a mixture of drugs including ecstasy, cocaine, heroin, and cannabis. 

Wayne Said, aged 25 and from Qormi, was also found guilty of violating a probation order issued by a Magistrate on 2 October 2015, and charged with relapsing following a 8 July 2014 court decision.

His charges in the case were trafficking ecstasy, procuring cocaine and heroin, and being possession of cannabis, after being initially arrested on 31 August 2016.

The court, which was presided over by Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras, found that in light of the accused's admission of guilt and on the basis of the evidence brought against, it would have to find Said guilty of all the charges.

He was sentenced to 27 months in prison and was ordered to pay  a fine of €2,700 for the trafficking, procuring and possession charges.

For violating his probation order and relapsing, Said was sentenced to 7 months in prison, making his total stay amount to 34 months.

Said was also order to pay €5,205 in court expenses within the next three years.
