Ghanaian ordered to leave Malta after seriously injuring friend during argument

A 57-year-old man from Ghana has been ordered to leave Malta within one week after pleading guilty to grievously injuring a friend after a fight between the pair escalated. 

Kofi Nimoh, who resides in Italy, was handed a three-year conditional discharge by presiding magistrate Joe Mifsud. 

The incident took place on 23 October at around 8pm inside an apartment in St Paul's Bay. Nimoh, in Malta visiting his friend, got into an argument and wound up injuring he friend. 

The court acknowledged that this was an unfortunate incident that got out of hand. 

Asked whether he regretted the incident, Nimoh became emotional. He pleaded guilty and was ultimately ordered to leave Malta to go back to Italy within the space of one week, while a three-year conditional discharge was ordered.

Mifsud ordered prosecuting inspector Godwin Scerri to ensure that the accused does leave Malta in seven days time.
