The court application to protect assassinated journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia's data and sources has been accepted by the inquiring magistrate Antonio Vella
In the course of their investigation, officers will be looking through the journalist's computer and mobile data. Through the application, data not pertaining to her murder will be protected.
The application was filed by IGM and was backed by all media houses, through lawyer Dr Stefano Filletti.
This was announced after journalists and other members of the media turned up in droves in Valletta in a manifestation of their solidarity, and marched in silence from the Spanish steps opposite the Parliament building to the Court House further down on Republic Street.
News organisations have since displayed the message 'The pen conquers fear' prominently on all their print, TV and electronic media.
