University Freshers’ week kicks off; PM visits

The University campus came back to life once again today, as the freshers' week kicked off. As expected, the annual Freshers Week fair organised by the student's council (KSU), celebrating student life, was truly jam-packed with freebies, student deals and information about student organisations.

As the traditional official opening ceremony, including speeches by Rector Professor Alfred J. Vella, and KSU President Robert Napier were taking place at the Sir Temi Zammit Hall, the Quadrangle and surrounding areas were chock-a-block with stands promoting student organisations to extra-curricular activities.

Students lined up to register themselves with the University Student council (KSU) since the council is there to represent them on cultural, socio-political and educational issues.

During the week, students have the chance to win free trips to the European Parliament in Brussels, with MEPs from the EPP and can take part in a photographic competition with a chance to win a variety of prizes. Students' organisations such as IAESTA were hosting games with many prizes including free cinema tickets.

The week long affair has more to offer and KSU has already reminded students of the famous Campus Fest which is going to now be a two day affair with big names performing such as Relikc and Mana Taqu playing on the first night.

Among those who visited the stands was Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
