MCAST students have expressed their concern after the Malta Union of Teachers announced a set of directives to its members, which will culminate in a strike on 15 December.
In a statement, the Kunsill Studenti MCAST urged the administration to file a counter proposal before Tuesday, 5th December, 2017 with regards to the collective agreement being negotiated between the school and the Malta Union of Teachers.
At the moment no compromise has been found, and consequently MUT is planning to impose industrial action in the form of teacher strikes that will affect negatively the students educational experience at MCAST, the statement said.
As a council we feel that the administration must focus further on improving lecturing methods thus increasing quality of standards similar to other educational institutions. A healthy environment within MCAST classrooms will provide a positive self-belonging both for students and teachers, the council said.
