Archbishop thanks well-wishers after gallbladder operation

Archbishop Charles Scicluna today thanked all the people who wished him well after he underwent gallbladder surgery in Chile on Wednesday

In a tweet, the archbishop thanked "all those who have kindly expressed their support and generously offered their prayers".

Mgr Scicluna is in Chile as a papal envoy to investigate complaints about Bishop Juan Barros, who has been accused by victims of witnessing and ignoring sexual abuse of young parishioners by the Rev. Fernando Karadima, who was removed from ministry and sentenced to a lifetime of "penance and prayer" in 2010.
