Fr Mark Montebello has issued an apology which led to his writing ban to be lifted by his superiors.
Montebello had been banned three months ago after an opinion piece in the pro-Labour Party newspaper It-Torca in which he wrote about the IVF law.
In a clarification published yesterday, the Dominican priest said that if readers understood by what he wrote that he was writing against the Church and its doctrine, it was not his intention to do so.
He apologised if he was understood to have written about the church and asked for forgiveness from those he hurt.
