An Italian man has been accused of killing his neighbour because he was tired of hearing her parrot insult him, Italian media report today.
The man, an unemployed 47-year-old, is accused of stabbing the 60-year-old woman after an argument over the way the parrot continued to insult him.
The accused, according to witnesses, waited for the woman outside her home to confront her about the parrot. At one point, the witnesses say, the man grabbed the woman with one arm and stabbed her to death with the other.
The incident occurred in Cagliari on 2 May 2017, and the trial started this week.
The prosecution is arguing that the woman was stabbed 11 times by the man who could no longer withstand the parrot's verbal insults, Italian media report.
