The Director General (Consumer Affairs) within the Malta Competition and Consumer affairs Authority has issued a public statement.
The statement identified that Eman Zammit, holder of identity card no. 506579 (M) has not honoured a decision delivered by the Consumer Claims Tribunal.
"The consumer had obtained a subsidy of €360 from the Housing Authority to upgrade her home, but the entire membrane work was carried out badly. Originally, the claim was filed against the person whose name was indicated on the VAT receipt, but it transpired that the work had been carried out by Eman Zammit, who was therefore also joined in the suit. The latter never submitted a reply to the claim, nor attended the sitting. After hearing the consumer, the Tribunal noted that her version was credible and acceptable, and ordered Zammit to pay the amount of €360, with expenses."
