Woman allegedly grievously injured during argument with man

A 33 -year-old Brazilian woman was grievously injured allegedly during an argument with a 24-year-old Syrian man, the police have said.

The incident occurred at 2.45 am on Santa Rita Street, St Julian's.

The Syrian was taken to the police depot and the woman to Mater Dei Hospital.

While under arrest, the Syrian man became aggressive, and caused slight injury to a police constable, and threatened officers, a police statement read.

Investigations are ongoing, the police said.
