The contractor giving out stackable recycling bins has until mid-way through February to complete his task, according to questions answered in Parliament today.
In Parliament Tuesday, PN MP Jason Azzopardi asked the Minister for the Environment, Jose Herrera, whether penalties were imposed on the contractor chosen in 2018 to give out the bins for the Sort it Out drive for not honouring the obligations specified in the contract.
According to the Minister, there are two separate contractors - one taking care of the containers for organic waste, and the other for the giving out of the stackable bins being used for recycled.
Verifications are currently underway for the former, and a decision on penalties will be taken upon their completion.
The aforementioned deadline is to be reached by the latter.
