A man from Mtarfa has been remanded in custody on drugs charges after leading the police on a car chase in Bahar ic-Caghaq.
Darren Mizzi, 26, was arrested on 31 January after a car chase inwhich two other cars were damaged. He was found in possession ofcannabis in circumstances which denoted that it was not intendedsolely for his personal use.
Mizzi was also charged with disobeying legitimate police orders andviolently resisting the police.
Magistrate Simone Grech is understoodto be holding a magisterial inquiry after the allegation was made thatthe man had been beaten up by police officers.Defence lawyer Mario Mifsud entered a not guilty plea but did notrequest bail.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli ordered the man be remandedin custody.Inspector Justine Grech prosecuted.
