Over 40 kilos of suspected cannabis found in car, man to be arraigned on Saturday

A 26-year-old man from Mtarfa was arrested on Thursday after police officers found over 45 kilos of suspected drugs in his car.

The man was stopped in Triq Tul il-Kosta, Bahar ic-Caghaq, by members of the Drug Squad.

A search was carried out on the vehicle he was driving, with officers finding around 40kg of a substance suspected to be cannabis grass and about 6kg of a substance thought to be cannabis resin.

The drugs were ready to be trafficked, the police said.

Magistrate Simone Grech is leading an inquiry.

The man is currently under arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in Court on Saturday morning.
