The police are searching for what they believe is the murder weapon used in the double murder over the weekend at the Hal Far waste facility, MaltaToday reports.
The civic amenity site has been closed to the public after the police ordered Wasteserv to shut down operations there.
The closure may be linked to ongoing police investigations into the murder of a mother and daughter.
Sources said the police may be looking for the murder weapon, which has so far not been located.
Joseph Bonnici was charged with the murder of his mother and sister on Sunday. Bonnici was accused of killing them at the family home in Għaxaq and hiding their bodies in a field in the outskirts of the village. He pleaded not guilty.
