Air Malta: Government calls urgent meeting with unions

The government has called an urgent meeting with unions representing Air Malta workers this afternoon.

The meeting is chaired by the Prime Minister in the presence of Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis.

Dr Zammit Lewis would not be drawn into giving comments to the media waiting outside Castille, saying that the workers needed to be informed before the government makes any public announcement.

Present for the meeting are representatives of the General Workers Union, the Pilots Union and the Union of Cabin Crew.

A press conference has been convened for 3.30pm.
