David Casa today lashed out at the Labour government for lack of cooperation from the government as it plans to take over the European Union presidency in January.
"The Maltese Government is set to take the helm of the Council of the European Union in 2017 providing an opportunity to drive the EU agenda and shape its priorities. For this to succeed the cooperation of the European Parliament can be vital," the Head of the PN Delegation said.
MEP Casa noted that despite the PN's offer to assist the Maltese government, collaboration in areas where the two parties can work together, such as employment and social affairs, has been non-existent.
"It has recently come to my knowledge that meeting requests for September are being sent on behalf of Minister Helena Dalli to EPP MEPs whom I lead in the European Parliament Committee on Employment and Social Affairs without me being informed. This is not the best way to ensure that the government reaches its objectives in this area".
Mr Casa reiterated that he wishes for the success of Malta's presidency and would be willing to support the Maltese government's initiatives in the areas for which he is responsible.
