The government today announced that Friday will be a day of national mourning. On the day, the funeral of slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia will be held.
The government said that the day of mourning will be held as a sign that no attack on freedom of expression is accepted in Malta's democracy. This will be also a sign of respect from one, united country.
Principal permanent secretary Mario Cutajar has written to all permanent secretaries, directors general, directors and heads of public entities that all flags are to be flown at half-mast.
