UHM files industrial complaint against Wasteserv, claims new workers are discriminated

UHM Voice of the Workers have called on Wasteserv to have the recent collective agreement implemented to all workers with no distinction or discrimination.

In a press release, UHM said that together with the company, it managed to address the discrimination between workers at Wasteserv and the workers under the contractor which provides service for this company. The union said that this was achieved through a 'historic agreement' and was satisfactory for workers and employers alike.

"Unfortunately the story has repeated itself and new situations emerged where workers who joined the company now, did not receive the payments they were entitled to as per the collective agreement."

UHM said it already complained about this issue with the management of the company and some issues were already addressed. "There are, however, certain workers who are still being discriminated," the statement said.

UHM has filed an industrial complaint on the matter and is asking for a meeting with the DIER, the Director of Industrial and Employers Relations.
