The Medical Council will be investigating Nationalist Party MP and spokesperson for Health Stephen Spiteri following allegations that he sold medical certificates without seeing patients.
Sources who spoke with this newspaper said that an inquiry will be launched to look into the matter.
Lovin Malta reported this week that a Pharmacy in Kalkara, where Spiteri holds clinic, would provide the certificates, signed by Dr Spiteri for just €5.
The Nationalist Party, in a statement yesterday, said that it stands by Spiteri's denial of such allegations and that it does not intend to take action against him.
