€104.6 million in direct foreign investment in 2017, down significantly from previous year

The country received €104.6 million in direct foreign investment in 2017, Economy Minister Chris Cardona revealed when answering a parliamentary question tabled by MP Frederick Azzopardi.

This is €100 million less than the figure recorded in 2016, which was €205.1 million.

"These figures reflect the amount of project investment over the first three years of each project, and includes those projects that have received some form of assistance that has been approved by the Corporation Board of Malta Enterprise," Cardona explained.
