Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Silvio Parnis said this evening that a new reform being written up for local councils will bring into discussion the idea of having mayors take on a full-time role.
"There are some mayors who have their own private practice and because of these commitments won't be able to make important events of the council," said Parnis, explaining the drawbacks the current role brings about.
"The government is giving out the money but we are not seeing results and we want to see results and change, we want local councils to to be the local government of our country," he said.
