Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation expressed his satisfaction at "Bettson AG's" announcement and commitment towards the Maltese jurisdiction and the reaffirmation of its intent to maintain its headquarters in Malta.
In an article today, The Times of Malta notes that the gaming company intends to cut 160 employees across the group, but did not say whether these will be employees based in Malta or elsewhere.
Parliamentary Secretary Silvio Schembri has "taken note of Bettson AG's plans to reorganise the Bettson Group for its future growth plans and its aim to be more agile and efficient in its operations following years of accelerated growth and acquisition of multiple brands and companies. Bettson AG was one of the first companies to be licensed in Malta way back in 2004 - which now employs more than 1,900 employees in 12 different locations including Malta. Today, it manages more than 20 brands and is listed on the NASDAQ Stockholm Large Cap List."
Parliamentary Secretary Silvio Schembri said, "The gaming industry has registered a double-digit growth of 11.6% last year and is expected to maintain this level of growth in the coming years especially once the new gaming regime is enacted later this year. The industry employs more than 9,000 people and today we are in a situation where any redundancies in Malta will be immediately absorbed by other operators in the industry when taking into account the hundreds of vacancies available within the gaming industry. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bettson AG for their trust in the Maltese jurisdiction and wish them well for their future business plans."
