PD says Projects Malta does not have nation's interests at heart; slams VGH deal

The Partit Demokratiku has spoken out against Project Malta, saying that it does not have Malta's foremost interests in mind and is engaging in projects which do not make the best use of the nation's assets.

The PD turned its sights on the controversial VGH deal, whereby the private company was running three of Malta's hospitals. It is now selling off its concession

"Due diligence and best practices are not being followed. The Government-VGH contract shows that this government entity is giving away the country's assets to investors whose pockets are not deep enough to pay for the assets' true worth, let alone have the expertise to be a health care provider. PD calls for the resignation of the CEO of Projects Malta," the PD said in a statement.

"The untrustworthy officials at OPM are still freely disposing of the people's assets in equally dubious circumstances, while the public is only being informed of the details behind these shady deals of national importance by journalists (as the government keeps refusing to be transparent). The unsavoury crowds manning government bodies and institutions are busy acting against the Public Good and the National Interest, hidden from sight."

The PD asked for the resignations of "those politicians and their collaborators, under whose tenure and with who such pro-shady-business deals are taking place. The failure of the Prime Minister to remove Minister Konrad Mizzi and Chief of Staff Keith Schembri points clearly towards complicity."

"Labour has a mandate to govern, and it can govern without these many potential criminals dragging the country to the bottom. The nation has suffered enough daily scandals and humiliation."
