Valletta vigil marks five months since Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination

A sizeable crowd, somewhat larger than in previous vigils, gathered before the Great Siege Memorial in Valletta this evening to mark the fifth month since the slaying of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Speakers called for justice to be served and for those who commissioned the crime to be brought to justice.  Several Opposition politicians were seen in attendance, as well as a small police presence.

As per what has become tradition, the vigil was concluded with the crowd signing the Maltese national anthem. Daphne Caruana Galizia was assassinated by a car bomb on 16 October2017 just metres away from her Bidnija residence. Three men stand charged with carrying out the heinous crime.
