The Planning Authority today said it currently has 12 pending applications related to fuel stations, with a combined proposed take up of 51,380 metres squared.
The PA was reacting to a video blog by Michael Briguglio, uploaded on this news portal on Tuesday, where he claimed that the pending fuel service station applications exempt from the proposed amendments to the policy amount to a size of land equivalent to 50 times (750,000m2) the size of the Granaries in Floriana.
"The Authority categorically denies the figures quoted by Dr. Briguglio. The Authority can confirm that it currently has 12 pending applications, related to fuel service stations. In total, the proposed take up of land amounts to 51,380m2.
To date, in total, the Authority received 30 applications for fuel service stations of which it approved three (8711m2). The remaining applications were either withdrawn or refused," the PA said.
