In a statement, the PN said that while the EU has "for the first time chose not to ignore the problems facing the country", it was still disappointed after EU member states failed to reach an agreement on mandatory burden sharing.
Stressing that it was a common European problem, the PN urged the government to continue working to ensure the Dublin regulation comes into force.
"The EU cannot leave countries closest to Arica alone," the statement read.
The PN, who are in favour of the creation of disembarkment centres on the African content, called on the PM to persuade his fellow Heads of State within his political group to follow the same line, who they said appeared to disagree with the proposal.
With regarding the increase in funding to the Trust Fund in Africa, the PN said it should also increase private investment and development funds on the continent.
