Incoming travellers taking a look at the in-flight magazine on Air Malta – and who have never visited Malta – must think that the country they are about to see is one where there is no traffic and is full of trees.
This, at least, is what the map printed on the magazine shows (picture).
Trees in different shapes and sizes, which have been the subject of so much controversy in the past months, are given a prominent space on the map.
But, although there are some boats shown, no cars make it to the illustration, giving new visitors the illusion that Malta is traffic-free.
This false impression is quickly replaced by the reality of car-jammed roads as one leaves the airport.
