The police have arrested four men after drugs were found in a vehicle in Santa Lucija, while €40,000 were recovered in a car in the vicinity.
The raid was carried out by the Vice Squad and the Rapid Intervention Unit on Thursday evening.
In a van in Santa Lucija, the police lifted 20 kilogrammes of cannabis and later found €40,000 in another car. Another search in a residence in Zebbug yielded three kilogrammes of heroin, the police said.
Two of the four men who were arrested are from Cospicua, while the two others are from Zebbug and a Sicilian man resident in Marsa. Their ages vary between 26 and 50.
Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo is leading an inquiry.
The police said the four men are to be charged with drug trafficking and aggravated possession og drugs, as well as money laundering.
