Works on Kappara Junction proceeding as planned, Transport Minister Joe Mizzi says

Work on Kappara Junction is proceeding as planned, Transport Minister Joe Mizzi said in Parliament this evening.

He was responding to a string of questions relating to transport and works posed by MPS Krist Debono, Toni Bezzina, Anthony Agius Decelis and Mario Galea.

"The contractor is focused on rock cutting, site clearance, and the building of supporting walls for the new slip road near the national pool. Works have also begun passing cables on the other side of the road. This is important in order for there not to be any interruptions in terms of electricity provided," he said.

The minister explained that there was widespread consultation when it came to alternative routes, adding that information was distributed through a number of methods, including leaflets passed through the mail.

Minister Mizzi was also asked about road infrastructure leading to the American University of Malta, given the dormitories that will be present on site, and whether a Transport infrastructure assessment will occur. He said: "When such an application occurs, Transport Malta gives technical feedback through technical people. So yes, they are doing what they do as the transport authority".
