A man was denied bail after a court found that it had limited information regarding his identity and that he did not hold a permanent place of residence.
Nasir Fuqle Warsame, a 21 year old Somali who resides in the Marsa Open Centre, has been charged with the aggravated possession of cannabis and cannabis resin.
Inspector Justine Grech, who was representing the prosecution, told the court that the substances weighed 17 grammes and 5 grammes respectively.
He was also found to be in possession of cocaine.
Grech told the court, which was presided over by Magistrate Charmaine Galea, to deny the accused's request for bail as the only documentation Warsame held was a refugee number issued by the Refugee Commission.
While the lawyer representing Warsame argued that his client should be granted bail on the basis of the presumption of innocence, the court denied this request due to his lack of details and address.
