Veteran waterpolo coach Stephen Rizzo has joined reigning champions San Giljan TUM Invest for this year.
He will be responsible for the U15 and U17 categories and will be assistant to Coach Marko Orlovic with the U20 and senior squad, the club said in a statement. Coach Erik Valter will continue his sterling work with the U9, U11 and U13 categories.
As a player Stephen Rizzo (in photo, right, with San Giljan president Daniel Aquilina) played for Birzebbugia and Valletta United and captained the national team. He won several honours and is a four time finalist as sport man of the year.
As a coach, Rizzo coached the senior national team for several years and won the prestigious Official of the Year award. He obtained third place for Malta at the Comen Cup held in Turkey. He also won the winter league with Sirens ASC and recently coached Valletta United in their recent return to the Premier League
