In July, the number of persons registering for work stood at 1,828 decreasing by 26.9 per cent when compared to the corresponding month in 2017, the National Statistics Office said.
Data provided by Jobsplus for July 2018 indicate a decline of 573 persons registering under Part I and of 98 persons among those registering under Part II of the unemployment register, when compared to the same month last year.
Registered unemployed dropped among all age groups. Registrants for work decreased when compared to July 2017, irrespective of how long they had been registering for work. The largest decrease in registrants was recorded among persons who had been registering for less than 21 weeks.
The number of persons with a disability who were registering for work decreased by 13 persons when compared to the previous year, reaching 271. Men accounted for 73.8 per cent of total registrants with a disability. The largest share of men and women on the unemployment register sought occupations as clerical support workers with 19.5 per cent and 41.2 per cent respectively. The registered unemployment rate in February 2018 stood at 1.0 per cent of the labour supply (excluding part-time employment); 1.1 per cent for men and 0.7 per cent for women.
